Gwenda McInerney (nee Little), Class of 1964
Committee Chair from 2005 to 2008
On leaving the Abbey, Gwenda joined Bank of Ireland and was sent to various branches around the country. She always had a wanderlust and in 1974 settled in Montreal, Canada where she worked with the Bank of Montreal. She returned to Ireland in 1978 and subsequently married, had her only child and went to live in Saudi Arabia. She settled in Ranelagh, Dublin 6 where she still lives with her husband. Gwenda joined the Committee at its inception and has served as Chairperson since Sr. Paulinus stepped down in 2005. Her interests are varied but now she concentrates on patchwork quilting.

Vicki Lamb, Class of 2000
Due to the Abbey closing, Vicki left before finishing so completed her school years in Loreto High School Beaufort. After leaving Beaufort, Vicki went to the Institute of Technology in Tallaght where she completed a Certificate in Business Studies (Accounting). After ‘dossing’ around Dublin for nine months, Vicki began working with Permanent TSB in the Title Deeds section, before moving on to IIB Homeloans deeds department, and now on to her current role in the customer services department. Vicki lives at home in Rathfarnham, but is currently on the look–out for a house with her boyfriend Gerard.

Genevieve Burke, Class of 2000
Genevieve left the Abbey in 1998 during Transition Year as the Abbey was closing and completed her Leaving Cert at Rathdown School. She went on to read Law at UCD and the London School of Economics. She worked in Brussels at an international trade and competition law firm before returning to Dublin in October 2007 to practise as a barrister. She also joined the LARA committee on her return.

Deirdre O’Sullivan, Class of 1968
Deirdre left the Abbey in 1968. After a number of years including a repeat leaving Cert in Loreto Stephen’s Green, a year in UCD and Alexandra Commercial College, her first job was in Dublin Zoo! Nowadays, Deirdre is Business Manager of Carl Zeiss Vision (Commercial). She volunteers in the Baths in Lourdes for a couple of weeks each year, does some voluntary work for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre and plays bad golf very well.

Mary McGaver Dixon, Class of 1966
I am from a farm in Co. Longford, close to Longford town. I started at LAR in Grade 1 in 1960 and sat the Leaving Cert in 1966. From there, I went to UCD and graduated as an architect in 1972. I have worked in architectural private practice in London and Dublin, from 1972 to the present, running my own practice since the early 1980’s. I married a professional colleague, Colm Dixon, in 1991. He has three adult children, and one adult grandson, from his first marriage. We live in Dublin. I am now a consultant in the practice of Dixon McGaver Nolan Architects.
